Liverpool vs Wolves Matchday Stats Preview
Liverpool have won 15 of their last 16 Premier League meetings with Wolves, with the exception being a 3-0 loss at Molineux in February 2023.
Wolves have lost nine of their 10 Premier League away games against Liverpool, with the exception being a 1-0 win in December 2010 under Mick McCarthy.
Wolves have lost all seven of their Premier League away games against sides starting the day top of the table. Only Sheffield Wednesday (9), Bournemouth (8), and Watford (8) have visited the league leaders more times in the competition without ever avoiding defeat.
Liverpool have scored at least twice in each of their last nine Premier League home games (22 goals overall). The Reds last netted 2+ goals in more successive Anfield games within a single league season in 2013-14, through a run of 14 from October to April that term.
After avoiding defeat in both of their first two Premier League away games under VÃtor Pereira (W1 D1), Wolves have since lost both of their last two on the road, but they haven’t lost more in a row within a single season in the competition since December 2023 (a run of 4).
Only Leicester City (32) have conceded more away goals in the Premier League this season than Wolves (28). Should Wolves concede twice here, it will be the first time they have shipped 30+ goals within their first 13 away games of a league campaign since 2003-04, when they were ultimately relegated from the top-flight.
Liverpool have conceded in each of their last four Premier League home games, shipping six goals in this run – as many as their previous 10 Anfield league games beforehand. Indeed, the Reds have conceded the opening goal five times at home in the league this season, just once fewer than they did in the whole of 2023-24 (6).
Cody Gakpo has scored in each of his last six Premier League starts at Anfield (7 goals). Only three different Liverpool players have scored in 7+ successive home starts in the competition: Fernando Torres in May 2008 (8), Luis Suárez in January 2014 (8), and Mohamed Salah twice (7 in April 2018 and 8 in May 2023).
Wolves’ Matheus Cunha has scored 16 of his 25 Premier League goals in away games (64.0%); among players with as many or more goals in the competition than the Brazilian, only Marcus Bent (67.5%), Roque Santa Cruz (65.4%), and Rod Wallace (64.4%) have scored a higher proportion away from home.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has scored 100 goals in 139 Premier League appearances at Anfield, one of just four players to score 100+ at a single venue in the competition, along with Thierry Henry at Highbury (114), Sergio Agüero at the Etihad (106), and Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford (101).
