Brentford vs Newcastle United Matchday Stats Preview

Brentford have lost each of their last four Premier League games against Newcastle, while they’ve only faced Crystal Palace more in the competition without ever winning (6) than against the Magpies (5).

Newcastle have won both of their Premier League away games against Brentford – only against Crystal Palace have they ever won their first three on the road in the competition (first four).

Brentford have alternated between winning (3) and losing (2) their final league game in each of the last five seasons, beating Manchester City 1-0 last season.

Newcastle have only lost their final league game in one of the last nine seasons (W7 D1), going down 3-1 at home to Liverpool in 2019-20.

Newcastle are unbeaten on each of the last six occasions they’ve finished a league season with a game in London (W5 D1), drawing 1-1 at Chelsea last term. Their last such defeat came at Tottenham Hotspur in 1972-73 (2-3).

Brentford have won three of their last five Premier League games (D1 L1), as many as they had in their previous 21 before this (D4 L14).

Brentford are unbeaten in their last five Premier League home games (W1 D4) and have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three. Only once have they recorded a shutout in four consecutive Premier League home games, doing so between March and May 2022.

Newcastle United have scored 80 Premier League goals this season, their most ever in a league campaign with a maximum of 38 matches. They have also conceded 60 goals, the first time a team has scored 80+ and conceded 60+ in a top-flight campaign with a maximum of 20 teams since 1914-15, when both Blackburn (F83 A61) and Sunderland (F81 A72) did so.

Despite playing just 24 of their 37 Premier League games this season, Bryan Mbeumo has been directly involved in more goals than any other Brentford player (15 – 9 goals, 6 assists).

Both Anthony Gordon (11 goals, 10 assists) and Alexander Isak (20 goals, 1 assist) have been involved in 20+ Premier League goals for Newcastle this season, the first time they’ve had two players do so in the same campaign since 1996-97, when both Les Ferdinand (16 goals, 8 assists) and Alan Shearer (25 goals, 7 assists) did so.
