All screen
The new range top of Samsung Galaxy S10 integrates all the features that we can demand from a high range and some really interesting additional features; all with its lights and shadows.
The component on which everything turns is a 6.4-inch screen with Dynamic AMOLED technology: an evolution of Super AMOLED panels that adds compatibility with HDR10 + and, therefore, achieves greater contrast and better management of colors. Thanks to it (and a set of speakers with clear sound), multimedia playback is excellent, with intense colors, deep blacks, well-defined whites ...
It also has two peculiarities. The first one is that it is perforated to better integrate the two front chambers and avoid the presence of the notch . In the anecdotal aspect, this feature allows to use funny wallpapers in which, for example, this hole becomes the eyes of Bender, the robot of Futurama.
The problem is that, although it helps to scratch a few millimeters of screen, when the taskbar appears that advantage is lost, because it extends from the frame to the bottom of the island with the cameras. And it is something significant, since the interface can not take advantage of about a centimeter of surface.
The other feature that attracts attention is the fingerprint reader, located under the screen. To recognize users, it uses an ultrasonic digital sensor that reads the three-dimensional contours of the fingerprint and is able to recognize you in milliseconds, even with the terminal blocked. That, when it works the first time; we have detected that it does not always do it, although not everything is the fault of the sensor: it is necessary to get used to supporting the finger without pressing.
It is not the only biometric identification system available to the Galaxy S10 +; It also has a very fast facial unlocking system: once the screen is turned on automatically when you pick up the terminal (it is a prerequisite that it is active), it is faster than using the fingerprint. However, it is not so sure.
In threes
Let's go to the rear cameras. Three, in this case: a 16-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide-angle lens, 123-degree field of view and aperture f / 2.2; a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel sensor with wide-angle lens, dual aperture f / 1.5- 2.4 (the mechanical variable aperture system we discussed in the Galaxy S9 + analysis last year) and optical image stabilization; and, finally, a telephoto of 12 megapixels and aperture f / 2.4.
With its combination, the terminal can take photos with bokeh effect, in wide angle, with an optical zoom of two magnifications ... In addition, and due to the presence of Artificial Intelligence, you can use an interactive assistant that recommends from where to shoot to get the better photo and makes some adjustments according to the scenario. In general, the results are similar to those of its predecessor, with great quality in virtually all cases without competing to become the best mobile camera of the year.
With a performance without surprises, works with Android 9 Pie and a new layer of personalization. It includes very eye-catching features, such as a technology that allows you to charge other devices wirelessly just by putting them in contact with the S10 + case. At first glance it may seem silly, but it is useful when, for example, we run out of battery in wireless headphones. They have to be compatible with the Qi standard, yes ...
Finally, let's talk about Bixby. Samsung is still insisting that we use its intelligent assistant, and now it's really when it's possible, because it's already available in Spanish . We can ask you for all kinds of tasks: set alarms, look up doubts on the Internet, ask for cooking recipes ... You only need to fine-tune the interaction - if you do not use the exact command for a task, it does not usually understand you. And if it does not convince you, it is finally possible to deactivate the side button that starts it.
