Burnley vs Brentford Matchday Stats Preview

Burnley have lost just one of their last 11 home league games against Brentford (W6 D4), beating the Bees 3-1 in their only previous Premier League meeting at Turf Moor in October 2021.

Following their 3-0 win in the reverse fixture, Brentford are looking to complete the league double over Burnley for just the second time, previously doing so in the second tier in 1934-35.

Following a run of five consecutive wins against promoted sides, Brentford lost 1-0 against Sheffield United in their last such match. They’re yet to lose consecutive meetings with promoted teams in the Premier League.

Brentford (28) and Burnley (20) are the two teams to have dropped the most points from winning positions in the Premier League this season (before Bournemouth v Luton), with the Clarets letting a 2-0 lead slip to draw with West Ham last time out. In the case of both teams, it’s the most points they’ve ever dropped having led in a single Premier League campaign.

Burnley are winless in their last 10 Premier League games (D3 L7) since a 2-0 win at Fulham in December. Their eight games without a win so far in 2024 is their longest run without a league victory from the start of a calendar year since 2007 (12).

Having won three consecutive Premier League games in October/November, Brentford have since won just three of their last 17 (D1 L13). Since the weekend of the first game in that run, the Bees have lost more Premier League games than any other side (13).

Brentford have conceded 17 headed goals in the Premier League this season, more than any other side. The last team to concede more in a single campaign were Blackburn Rovers in 2011-12 (18), while the highest amount shipped by a team in a season is 20 (Leeds United in 1992-93).

85% of Burnley’s Premier League goals this season have come from open play (23/27), with no side netting a higher share of their goals from open play this term (Nottingham Forest also 85%). It’s also the Clarets’ highest percentage of goals from open play in a single Premier League campaign.

David Datro Fofana has been involved in four of the six Premier League goals Burnley have scored since his debut for the club in January, scoring three and assisting another. Indeed, across the season as a whole, only Lyle Foster (7) and Zeki Amdouni (5) have been involved in more league goals for the Clarets than Fofana.

Brentford striker Yoane Wissa has scored in each of his last three Premier League games, and has now scored exactly seven goals in all three of his campaigns in the competition. He’s never scored in four consecutive matches within the top two divisions in his European league career.
