Wolves vs Brentford Matchday Stats Preview

Wolves are looking to complete a league double against Brentford for the third time, previously doing so in 1938-39 (top-flight) and 2016-17 (Championship).

Brentford have lost three of their last four away league games against Wolves, with the exception being a 2-0 victory in their first Premier League visit to Molineux in September 2021.

Wolves have won four of their last six Premier League games (D1 L1), as many as their previous 14 beforehand (D4 L6). They have netted 16 goals across those last six matches, as many as their previous 12 league games prior to this.

Brentford have dropped a league-high 26 points from winning positions in the Premier League so far this season. Indeed, the Bees have lost (6) more games than they’ve won (5) when opening the scoring this term.

No team is on a longer current run without a Premier League clean sheet than Brentford. They’ve conceded in each of their last 12 games in the competition, shipping at least twice in each of their last six.

Brentford have lost nine of their last 11 Premier League games, winning the others against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest. Since the start of this run, they’ve suffered more defeats than any other Premier League side.

Wolves have scored in each of their last 18 Premier League home games, since a 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in February last year. They last had a longer scoring streak at Molineux in league football between October 1999 and September 2000 (23).

Pedro Neto has eight assists for Wolves in the Premier League this season – only Adama TraorĂ© has ever provided more for the club in a single campaign (9 in 2019-20).

Matheus Cunha has been involved in seven goals in his last five Premier League games for Wolves (4 goals, 3 assists), netting a hat-trick against Chelsea last time out. He has nine goals overall in the Premier League this season; with Hwang Hee-Chan already hitting 10 this term, this could be the first top-flight season to see two Wolves players reach double figures since 1979-80 (John Richards and Andy Gray).

Brentford’s Neal Maupay has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances – he’s never scored in four in a row in the competition before. He last scored in four straight league games in September 2018 in the Championship.
