Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United Match Stats Preview

Crystal Palace have won their last three Premier League games against Sheffield United, keeping a clean sheet each time. They last won four consecutive league games against the Blades between 1987 and 1991.

Sheffield United have won just one of their last six away league games against Crystal Palace (D1 L4), winning 1-0 in the Premier League in February 2020.

All seven Premier League meetings between Crystal Palace and Sheffield United have been won, with the winning side keeping a clean sheet each time (Eagles 5, Blades 2). It’s the most played fixture in the competition’s history to never have both teams score in a game.

Crystal Palace have won just one of their last 10 Premier League games (D3 L6), though that victory was in their last home game, beating Brentford 3-1. 62% of the Eagles’ league goals conceded this season have come in these last 10 games (21/34).

Sheffield United have lost 16 of their last 19 away Premier League games (W1 D2), with their only victory in that run coming at Everton in May 2021. The Blades have netted just seven goals in these games, and never more than once in a match.

There have been five goals scored in the 10th minute of second half added time (or later) in the Premier League this season. 60% of these have been in Sheffield United’s games, with two being scored by the Blades themselves including Oli McBurnie’s 103rd minute equaliser against West Ham last time out.

Sheffield United have scored fewer (17) and conceded more (51) Premier League goals than any other side this season. They’re the only side yet to score in the opening 30 minutes of a match so far, with their earliest strike coming in the 33rd minute (Cameron Archer v Everton in September).

Sheffield United have had 21 shots in two of their last three Premier League games, doing so against Luton Town and West Ham United. They’d only managed 20 or more shots in one of their previous 100 top-flight matches before this.

Crystal Palace midfielder Jefferson Lerma has the highest expected goals total among all Premier League players yet to score this season (2.1). He’s had 22 shots (7 on target) without finding the net so far.

Ben Brereton scored for Sheffield United on his Premier League debut against West Ham last time out. The only player to score in both of their first two Premier League games for the Blades was Brian Deane back in August 1992.
