Sheffield United vs Wolves Match Stats Preview

Sheffield United have lost three of their last five home league games against Wolves (W2), as many as they had in their previous 22 against them at Bramall Lane (W10 D9).

Wolves won their last two league meetings with Sheffield United in the 2020-21 season, last winning more consecutively against the Blades between 1954 and 1955 (4).

Sheffield United are only the fourth team in English top-flight history with one point in their opening 10 games of a season, along with Man Utd in 1930-31 (0), West Brom in 1985-86 (1) and the Blades themselves in 2020-21 (1), all of whom went on to finish bottom of the table.

Wolves are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches (W2 D3), last enjoying a longer unbeaten run between February and June 2020 (eight in a row).

Sheffield United have conceded 29 goals in their first 10 Premier League matches this season, the most ever by a Premier League side at this stage of a campaign. The last top-flight side to have conceded this many after 10 games was West Bromwich Albion in 1985-86 (31).

Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom has lost 16 of his 20 Premier League games in charge, with only Mick McCarthy ever losing more of his first 20 games in charge (17) in Premier League history. The Blades have conceded 47 goals in his 20 games, with only Danny Wilson (51) and George Burley (48) seeing their teams concede more across their first 20 games.

Wolves have avoided defeat in their last two Premier League matches despite falling behind in both (W1 D1) – they had lost 12 of their previous 13 games when going behind in games before this (D1).

Wolves players have scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season (excluding own goals), with Hwang Hee-chan (6 goals, 1 assist) and Pedro Neto (1 goal, 7 assists) scoring the goal or providing the assist for all 12.

30.7% of Wolves’ Premier League goals this season have been scored by substitutes (4/13), the highest ratio in the division. Two of these have been scored by Sasa Kalajdzic (with no player netting more from the bench this term), with the Austrian having the best minutes-per-goal ratio of anyone to score in the Premier League this term (one every 26 minutes).

Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has conceded 29 goals in his 10 Premier League starts this season, with only Mark Travers (31) and David Watson (30) conceding more across their first 10 starts in the competition. He’s also conceded 2+ goals in his last nine games, with Sergio Rico the last goalkeeper to do so in more consecutive starts (13 between January and April 2019 for Fulham).
