Sheffield United vs Bournemouth Match Stats Preview

Sheffield United have lost just one of their nine home league games against Bournemouth (W5 D3), going down 1-0 in August 1987. They won 2-1 in their only previous Premier League home game against them.

Bournemouth have won just one of their last 11 league games against Sheffield United (D2 L8), picking up a 2-1 home victory in the Championship in October 2021.

Sheffield United come into this game in 19th spot in the Premier League. They haven’t won a game in the top-flight when starting the day off the bottom since July 2020 vs Chelsea (D2 L14 since). All eight of their wins since then have come when rooted to the foot of the table.

Bournemouth are without a win in an away Premier League game this season (D1 L4) and have shipped 17 goals, the most of any side on the road. There’s only been eight instances of a side shipping that many in their first five away Premier League games in a season, and the Cherries are responsible for two of them in the last two seasons (also 18 goals in five games last season).

Sheffield United have picked up four points from their last two Premier League games (W1 D1), as many as in their previous 12 combined at this level (W1 D1 L10). They haven’t gone three on the bounce without losing since July 2020 (a run of four).

Since the start of last season, Bournemouth have conceded more away Premier League goals than any other side (60), conceding at least two goals in 18 games including all five this season. Only three sides have conceded 2+ in their first six away games in a season: Derby County in 2000-01 (first six), Leeds United in 2003-04 (first six) and Burnley in 2009-10 (first 11).

No side have benefitted from more own goals in the Premier League this season than Sheffield United (3), which have accounted for 30% of their goals, the highest percentage of any side. It’s already the joint most own goals they’ve had in their favour in a single season, along with 2019-20.

Only Dejan Kulusevski (24) and Andy Robertson (19) have created more chances for their teammates without registering an assist in the Premier League this season than Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer (16). Hamer is one of three players to have both the outright most shots (16) and chances created (16) for their club this season, along with Abdoulaye Doucour√© (Everton) and Morgan Gibbs-White (Nottm Forest).

Bournemouth’s Luis Sinisterra had more shots (5) than any other player in their 2-0 win over Newcastle on MD12, despite only coming on as a 68th minute substitute, the joint most shots by a Cherries sub in a Premier League game along with Harry Wilson vs Spurs in November 2019. Sinisterra has scored in three of his last four top-flight appearances in Yorkshire, all for Leeds in April 2023 at Elland Road.

Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke has scored six goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season, as many as he managed in 33 games last season. His shot conversion rate is at 18% this season, a 10% improvement on last season (8%).
