Everton vs Manchester United Match Stats Preview

Everton have won just one of their last eight Premier League meetings with Manchester United (D4 L3), a 1-0 home win in April 2022.

Manchester United won this exact fixture 2-1 last season, last winning back-to-back away league games against Everton in September 2007 (a run of three).

Everton have lost 39 times to Manchester United in the Premier League (W10 D13) and could become the first side to lose 40 games to a single opponent in the competition’s history.

Everton are looking to secure successive Premier League wins for the first time since October 2022, though the Toffees have alternated between not winning (D1 L3) and winning (W4) in their previous eight league matches.

After losing their opening two away games in the Premier League this season, Manchester United have since won each of their last three; it’s their longest such run in the competition since a 10-game streak under Ole Gunnar Solskjær between June and December 2020.

Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Luton Town last time out was their 20th by a one-goal margin in the Premier League since the start of last season; no other side during that time has more than 13. Indeed, of managers with at least 30 wins in the competition, only Paul Jewell (74% - 25/34), Chris Hughton (73% - 30/41), Mike Walker (73% - 27/37) and Alex McLeish (73% - 24/33) have won a higher percentage of their games by a single goal than Erik ten Hag (67% - 20/30).

Everton boss Sean Dyche’s only Premier League win against Manchester United came at Old Trafford in January 2020 (2-0), with him earning just two points when hosting the Red Devils in the competition (D2 L5). Indeed, Burnley’s 1-1 draw with them in February 2022 was the first time his side had scored at home against them.

Abdoulaye Doucouré is Everton’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with four goals, while since Sean Dyche’s first game in charge of the Toffees, he’s scored more goals (9) than any other player for them. However, just two of those nine have come at Goodison Park, with his only one this season against Bournemouth last month.

Manchester United’s 13 goals so far in the Premier League this season is the fewest of any side in the top 12 places, with Marcus Rashford (-2.9 – 1 goal and 3.9 xG) and Rasmus Højlund (-2.5 – 0 goals and 2.5 xG) the two players underperforming compared to their expected goals total by the greatest margin in the competition so far.

Bruno Fernandes has either scored (2) or assisted (1) in each of Manchester United's last three Premier League away games, only enjoying longer such runs in the competition between February/July 2020 and July/November 2020 (both five games). Indeed, since his debut in the competition in February 2020, only Mohamed Salah (56), Harry Kane (54) and Son Heung-Min (41) have more away goal involvements than his 38 (22 goals, 16 assists).
