Burnley vs Crystal Palace Match Stats Preview

After losing four consecutive league games against Crystal Palace between 2018 and 2019, Burnley are now unbeaten in their last five against the Eagles (W3 D2).

After a run of 11 Premier League meetings that saw either Burnley (6) or Crystal Palace (5) emerge victorious, the last two games between the sides in 2021-22 both ended level (3-3 at Turf Moor, 1-1 at Selhurst Park).

Burnley have lost all five of their Premier League home games this season – they could become the first team in English top-flight history to lose each of their first six in a campaign, and third in English league history overall after Newport County in 1970-71 (fourth tier) and Watford in 1990-91 (second).

Including their last two games in 2021-22, Burnley have lost each of their last seven Premier League home games. They’ve never lost eight in a row at home in the top-flight before, also losing seven consecutively in the 1889-90 campaign.

Crystal Palace have lost their last two Premier League games, as many as they had in their previous 11 (W4 D5). They last lost three in a row in March, while they last lost three in a row under Roy Hodgson in May 2021.

No team have lost more points from losing positions in the Premier League this season than Burnley (11). The Clarets lost 2-1 at Bournemouth despite leading last time out, and 4-1 at home to Chelsea despite leading in their last home game.

Only Sheffield United (7) have scored fewer goals than both Burnley and Crystal Palace (8 each) in the Premier League this season. Burnley also have the second lowest xG so far this term (8.6), while Palace have the lowest shot conversion rate of any side (6.3%).

Burnley have conceded 11 goals in the first half of Premier League games this season, more than any other side. However, Crystal Palace have netted the fewest first half goals in both total (1) and as an overall percentage (13%) so far this term.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany could be the second manager to lose each of his first six Premier League home games in charge, after Mick McCarthy who lost his first seven with Sunderland between March 2003 and August 2005.

Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew has won more fouls than any other player in the Premier League this season (34), although no player has committed more fouls than the Ghanaian (20).
