Arsenal vs Burnley Match Stats Preview

Having won 10 of their first 11 Premier League games against Burnley (D1), Arsenal have won just one of their last five against the Clarets (D3 L1).

Burnley are unbeaten in their last two away games against Arsenal (W1 D1), having lost nine consecutive visits in all competitions between 1975 and 2019.

Burnley have scored just eight goals in their 16 Premier League meetings with Arsenal, and never more than once in a match. No side has ever faced an opponent more without scoring 2+ goals in the competition (Wigan against both Fulham and Manchester United, also 16).

Arsenal lost and failed to score for the first time in the Premier League this season last time out against Newcastle, managing just one shot on target all game. However, they’re unbeaten in their last 37 home league games against promoted sides (W32 D5).

Each of Burnley’s last eight points in the Premier League have been won away from home. However, they’re winless in seven games in London in the competition (D4 L3) since a 2-0 win at Fulham in May 2021.

Burnley have lost six of their last seven Premier League games (W1), including the last four in a row. They’ve not lost five consecutively in the same top-flight campaign since January 1976.

Burnley have scored a league-high 38% of their Premier League goals in the opening 15 minutes of games so far this season (3/8). Meanwhile, only Chelsea (25%) have conceded a higher share in this timeframe than Arsenal this term (22% - 2/9).

Arsenal rank 11th for expected goals (excluding penalties) so far in the Premier League this season (14.8), averaging 1.35 per game. Last season, they ranked third for this, averaging 1.84 per game.

In the Premier League, Mikel Arteta has faced 24 different sides as Arsenal manager at the Emirates, and the only one he’s failed to beat at least once or see his side score a single goal against is Burnley (D1 L1).

All five of Eddie Nketiah’s Premier League goals for Arsenal this season have come at the Emirates Stadium, with only Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (6) scoring more home goals in the competition so far this term.
