Barcelona vs Ferencvaros UEFA Champions League Match Preview or Key Statistics 📊
This will be the first ever European meeting between Barcelona and Ferencvaros. Barcelona have won all four of their previous European matches against Hungarian opponents, winning both legs of knockout matches against Gyori ETO FC in the 1969/70 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and Vasas SC in the 1975/76 UEFA Cup.
Ferencvaros faced Spanish opponents last season in the UEFA Europa League, drawing both group stage games against Espanyol.
Their last win over a Spanish side was back in September 1982 against Athletic Club in the UEFA Cup. Barcelona are unbeaten in their last 31 home UEFA Champions League group stage matches (W27 D4) since a 2-1 defeat to Rubin Kazan in October 2009 under Pep Guardiola.
Ferencvaros haven't featured in the UEFA Champions League since the 1995/96 season, when they went out in the group stage, shipping 19 goals across their six games (W1 D2 L3).
Barcelona haven't lost their opening match of a UEFA Champions League season since 1997/98, when they were beaten 3-2 by Newcastle United at St James' Park; they are unbeaten in 21 since (W16 D5). Only one of the last 29 teams have beaten Barcelona in their first UEFA Champions League match against them (D6 L22), with that win coming for Rubin Kazan in October 2009.
Barcelona manager Ronald Keeman is set to become the fifth manager to take charge of as many as six teams in the UEFA Champions League, after Carlo Ancelotti (8), Claudio Ranieri (6), Jose Mourinho (6) and Rafael Benitez (6).
Among the 24 managers to have managed at least 50 games, Keeman has the worst win ratio (26.3%), winning just 1 5 of his 57 games. Ferencvaros are the only team in this season's UEFA Champions League who have progressed from the first qualifying round to the group stage.
The last team to have played in the first qualifying round and then go on to reach the group stage and face Barcelona were Dynamo Kiev in 1997 /98, who won both games with current Ferencvaros manager Serhiy Rebrov scoring in both victories for Kiev.
